jgeishekerphoto-b.jpgJohn Geisheker, Esq., a native of New Zealand, is currently the Executive Director of the international children’s charity, Doctors Opposing Circumcision (D.O.C.), based in Seattle. John has served as a litigator, law professor, arbitrator, and mediator, specializing in medical-legal disputes, for more than 27 years. As Executive Director of D.O.C., John writes and lectures on the bioethics of non-therapeutic and unnecessary genital surgeries upon minors. He also counsels parents and defends medical practitioners who are conscientious objectors to unethical medical practices and routinely defends midwives in Washington State. John has lectured on bioethics in New Zealand, Italy, and all coasts of the US. As General Counsel he leads the D.O.C. legal team when an Amicus Curiae brief needs to be filed to protect a child. Most recently, John helped to defend ‘Misha’ a 12-year-old facing a non-therapeutic involuntary religious circumcision, a cause now before the Oregon Supreme Court. John is married, the father of two grown children, and is himself the eldest of 10 raised in Wisconsin. He now lives aboard his sailboat ‘Adagio’ in downtown Seattle, with his wife Michaelle Wetteland, an oncology nurse manager.
