Nancy Wainer, CPM, a mother of three, is the author of the critically acclaimed “bible of cesarean prevention” Silent Knife: Cesarean Prevention and VBAC, which won an American Library Award for the best book in the field of Health and Medicine. She is the author of Open Season: A Survival Guide for Natural Childbirth, and is currently writing Birthquake! A Childbirth Book for Strong Women and Women Who Want to Be Strong. Nancy co-founded C/SEC, the first cesarean awareness organization in the world, and she coined the term Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) which is now used internationally. She is a homebirth midwife, a certified labor assistant, a certified childbirth educator and is also certified in HypnoBirthing.
