Power Woman Barbara Wilder

No more time for fear. The world needs your gifts.

Women in the second half of life are the greatest untapped natural resource in the world.
– Barbara Wilder

Barbara Wilder is an internationally acclaimed writer, teacher, and healer, who spent the first twenty years of her adult life in the motion picture business.  After a career as an actress in Los Angeles and New York in such innovative theatre companies as The Committee, Inner City Repertory Theatre, Off The Wall, and the ground-breaking Earthlight Theatre, which she co-founded, produced and starred in, Barbara moved to the production and development side of the motion picture industry beginning with an apprenticeship at Roger Corman’s New World pictures.  From there she moved to the major studios where she worked as an associate producer, development executive and production comptroller.

Turning to screenwriting, Barbara went on to write nine feature scripts, eight of which were either sold or optioned. Her most recent screenplay, RED RAVEN, about the Celtic warrior queen, Boudicca, was short listed for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ prestigious Nicholl Fellowship award. She has written for numerous cable television series and was a staff writer for the cable series, “Wild Survival with Corbin Bernsen.” A dynamic speaker, she has appeared on numerous radio talk-shows including shows hosted by Shirley MacLaine and Uri Geller.

“Women across the globe are sick and tired of having their loved ones slaughtered in senseless violence – whether in war or on our city streets. A concentrated effort focused on healing is needed now by a large segment of the population skilled at organization, diplomacy, nurturing, decision-making, budgeting, scheduling, and crisis management. Where can people with all of these qualifications be found? In women in the second half of life.”

However, some of Barbara’s greatest contributions have evolved from the betrayals and pains she has experienced in her life.  Barbara had a mother who focused her anger at life on Barbara personally and later cut Barbara out of her will.  That incident precipitated the writing of Barbara’s first book, Money is Love: Reconnecting to the Sacred Origins of Money.  In that book, Barbara shows how to reconnect money to the sacred feminine and transform it into an agent for both personal and global prosperity.

Other betrayals, some small, some large, helped Barbara dive into the darkness and discover her own inner developing strength.   For example, later  in her menopausal journey, Barbara’s husband left her for a much younger woman – a cliché that Barbara never thought would happen to her.  That experience helped Barbara connect to her power and magic all on her own.

But Barbara doesn’t believe that we need to do it alone.  Her work is based on women learning to sit together to create positive societal changes by opening their hearts and minds to one another.  The feminine way is working together in loving community.  “I see us sitting around chatting and weaving the fabric of new and more hopeful society,” she says.   Her second  book,Embracing Your Power Woman: 11 Steps to Coming of Age in Midlife, is a radical program that gives women in the second half of life the skills to recognize, embrace, and embody their innate feminine power.

Barbara’s most recent offering, POWER WOMAN MAGIC – a Play about the Mysteries of Midlife and Beyond – is based on her book Embracing Your Power Woman. This dynamic play involves a group of women discussing their dreams and their fears.  As they do they become aware that they do have the power and the magic to create a better world. Recently launched in Boulder, CO; it is an evolving work which will change based on backgrounds and life experiences of the actors in each community that sponsors it.  After the play, the cast holds an open discussion with the women in the audience so that each woman can express her own dreams as well has her fears.  Plans for the expansion of the play include a full workshop following each performance.  A percentage of the profits from every performance is donated to a woman’s charity in the local community.

“As I moved through my menopausal journey, I became aware, that even though I was feeling physically weaker at times, I was also developing a new strong sense of myself. And it became apparent to me that the physical ailments were part of a letting go of my childbearing biology, while a new, even stronger woman was being birthed. At the other side of menopause, the physical ailments have disappeared and I have a healthy zest for life.”

Barbara’s book, and now her play, help women release the old paradigm mindsets around women in the second half of life.  “Our dreams, now backed by a lifetime of experience, have the power to propel us into an exciting and powerful new life.  When we can get past the fears that naturally crop up, we tap into our strength, our creativity, our passion, and our compassion.”

Currently Barbara lives in Boulder, Colorado with her beloved dog, Gage, where she maintains her intuitive counseling and light-energy healing practice at the Transformational Light Center, of which she is the founder and director.  She is also the director and founder of The Power Woman Magic Project, a non-profit organization that exists to produce and promote her play, POWER WOMAN MAGIC and the workshops connected to it, that are designed to help women in the second half of life embrace and step into their power to help shift world focus from domination to co-creation. Wilder also travels wherever she is called to speak about her ideas of how we can create a balanced world where peace can flourish.

The Power Woman Magic Project

The Power Woman Magic Project is dedicated to the education and empowerment of women in the second half of life.  It is a non-profit educational organization of Congressional District Program, Inc. – a registered 501 (c)(3) public charity.   The foundation of this project is the belief that women in the second half of life have the potential to be the most powerful force for good in the world.  The project’s goal is to inspire, entice, and excite women throughout the world to remember the power and the magic of love, nurture, creativity, healing, caring, giving, sharing, and express it in their own unique ways for themselves, their communities, and the planet.

Barbara is looking for women and women’s organizations to invite her to either bring her cast to their communities to perform Power Woman Magic or to invite Barbara to come to their community to direct local women in the play.  The play is written so that it is easy and inexpensive to mount, and the performers do not need to be professional actors.

Cash donations are also needed to help mount new productions, as well as donations of rehearsal and production space, clerical help, website design and maintenance, and whatever else your heart may lead you to give.  For  cash donations go to https://www.registrationfactory.com/v3/default.cfm?EventUUID=BAA853BC.  For non-cash donations, or to inquire about how you can bring Power Woman Magic to your community, contact Barbara directly at Barbara@BarbaraWilder.com To learn more about all of Barbara’s projects go to http://www.barbarawilder.com/.
